Jenni Capps for Duncan City Council
After being elected in 2018 as the city's youngest ever councillor, I'm excited to share that I'm running for re-election.
I've lived in this community my entire life, and have chosen to continue to live, work, and raise my child here. I have been living in the downtown core for over 8 years now, and working at small, local businesses in the downtown core for over 13 years.
I am deeply invested in the future of this community, and I take great pride in making responsible decisions that will serve Duncan now, and well into the future.
It's been an incredible privilege to serve my hometown for the past four years. I plan to continue the work this council has started on issues around housing and homelessness, preserving green space and reducing our environmental impact, increasing density where it makes sense, and doing what we can to keep tax increases modest without sacrificing quality of life in the city.
We have faced many overlapping crises during this past term- the opioid epidemic, housing and affordability crisis, and the Covid-19 pandemic. During these challenging times, I've been consistently amazed by our community's spirit and resilience. In the face of these immense difficulties, our current council has risen to the challenge and supported initiatives to house the unhoused, funded business and organization recovery after/during Covid-19, and supported diverse types of housing being built within the city.
We are still dealing with the impacts of these crises, and I believe that electing incumbents from the current council can help provide some much-needed stability at this time.
I love living here, and I love working for all of Duncan's citizens as a member of council. I would greatly appreciate your support in this upcoming election. Please consider voting for me on October 15th, or at advance voting opportunities on October 5th and 11th. For more local election info, click here.To get in touch with me, click here.
